Raigad district president Santosh Bahira on behalf of All India Yoga Teachers Federation gave a request letter to Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur that the government should make efforts to implement yoga as a necessary subject in secondary and higher secondary level in the new education policy.
He was accompanied by Maharashtra State Executive Member of All India Yoga Teachers Federation Sangita Patil, Raigad District Media Head Ganesh Koli, Raigad District Executive Member Raghunath Bahira.
Yoga has been a very important subject in Indian culture since ancient times. In fact, it remains an integral part of life. In particular, the importance of yoga has been scientifically proven. Yoga is an important subject for the overall development of human beings. Yoga can play an important role physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.
Moreover our ancient scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vedas, Upanishads and all other scriptures have a detailed discussion about yoga.
It may also be recalled that the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi took a very important step in 2014 to bring this to the notice of the society. Accordingly the discussions was held at the United Nations, a total of 90 days of discussions took place and today yoga education is recognized in 140 countries of the world.
This is a matter of great glory. Such an important subject is expected to be properly taught in every educational institution in India under our development program.
If children understand the importance and value of yoga in their student life from childhood, then the country will be more capable as its foundationshall be more strong. Such a role has been taken by the Indian Yoga Council as well as its the need of time to implement yoga education for physical health of every child.
Yoga education is also needed to inculcate patriotism in the minds of children. The current situation is that physical and mental well-being is essential for a student to be able to live and grow.
Emphasizing that yoga education is also need of time for mental, physical and intellectual development of the children. In longer run the country will be healthy and it will be able to handle all the challenges of the coming time easily and efficiently.
Moreover Yoga education will provide employment to millions of unemployed yoga teachers in UGC-accredited educational institutions, it will also curb those who teach yoga illegally, the statement stated.
