Navi Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Senior Corporator Suresh Kulkarni of Ward No 68, Turbhe region elected as the new Standing Committee Chairman of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). He was declared elected by Election Officer Shivaji Jondhle, Mumbai District Collector. Kulkarni won the Chairmanship from three votes.
Kulkarni got Nine votes from NCP and Congress members, while Shiv Sena Corporator Deepali Suresh Sakpal of ward no. 35 of Ghansoli Node got Five votes from Shiv Sena and One from BJP.
The newly elected Standing Committee Chairman Suresh Kulkarni was felicitated by Mayor Jaywant Sutar, MLA Sandeep Naik, Deputy Mayor Mandakini Mhatre, Municipal Commissioner Dr Ramaswami N, Leader of the House Ravindra Ithape, Opposition Leader Vijay Chougule, Senior Corporators Dr Jayaji Nath, Ashok Gawde, Ashok Gurkhe, Anant Sutar, Namdeo Bhagat, Sunil Balaram Patil, Dwarkanath Bhoir, Ex Mayor Sagar Naik
