Residents of sector 9, the nearest residential sector to Vashi Bus Terminal, are feeling unhappy over rising noise pollution in the area. Ravi Shanker, Joint Treasurer and Director, Navi Mumbai Co-operative Housing Society Federation and Secretary of Adhishwara CHS, Sector 9 A, Vashi informs “People bought houses here paying more than anywhere else to stay in peaceful surroundings and also to gain convenience of transportation. One can get a bus to any end of Mumbai, Thane and Raigad district from here”.
“Most residents here are either working as high officials or are owners of some business set-up. Hence it is only on Sundays that most of us are staying in house to take rest and enjoy with family members. Things were all going well till the trend of organizing wedding in social and religious organizations located here started. Most of the weddings are held on Sundays and this brings in hundreds of people in the vicinity,” he says.
Shanker adds, “The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation should ensure that such disturbance and nuisance spread by visitors coming in the area for just a few hours can be avoided”.
