Emphasising more towards developing Basic Amenities and Infrastructure in the City
Panvel City Municipal Corporation’s budget of Rs. 1499 crore for the year 2022-2023 was presented by the Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh in the Standing Committee on 16 March 3022. The budget, which has no tariff hike, no tax hike, emphasizes on infrastructure in the municipal sector. The is almost double from the 2021 – 22 which was of Rs 772 Crores. Standing Committee Chairman Naresh Thakur, House Leader Paresh Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar, Chief Accounts Officer Mangesh Gawde, Chief Auditor Vinay Kumar Patil, Accounts Officer Dr Sangram Vorkate, Municipal Secretary Tilakraj Khaparde were present on the occasion.Other members of the Standing Committee were present online.
In this budget, Rs. 326 crore has been set aside for various infrastructure works of the construction department.Gaothan infrastructure 62 crore, construction of urban primary health center 10 crore, Swarajya the Administrative building of Municipal Corporation 40 crore, 12 crore for construction of mayor’s residence, 12 crore for construction of ward offices,5 crore to set up Mata Ramai Ambedkar Community Center, The budget includes Rs 14 crore for beautification of lakes, Rs 40 crore for CIDCO land transfer and development.
75 crore has been set aside for manpower, purchase of various vehicles, jetting machines for sanitation and solid waste management in the city. A fund of Rs. 205 crore has been set aside in this budget for the implementation of slum redevelopment scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the city with a view to liberate the city of Panvel.Fires accidents are frequent in Panvel Municipal Corporation area. To control this, a fund of Rs 21 crore has been set aside for updating the fire department and under this, updated vehicles with various facilities will be procured.
Apart from this, the municipality has set aside Rs 21 crore for English medium schools, school buildings, computer training services under e-learning.A provision of Rs. 2.52 crore has been made in the budget for the implementation of various schemes for the empowerment of women under the Department of Women and Child Welfare.A huge fund of Rs 5.26 crore has been earmarked for rehabilitation of the disabled, implementation of useful schemes and financial assistance.
Considering the pollution a budget of Rs. 1.30 crore has been set aside in the budget to enlist the help of an organization like IIT for the preparation of environmental report of Panvel Municipal Corporation area and also to install air pollution measuring machines in the municipal area.
This budget will now be presented in front of Standing Committee Mambers and General Body Members for final review.
