The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has responded to complaints of Sector 27 residents, voiced through Cityplus and taken action accordingly.
Sector 27 of Nerul is in the developing phase for the past seven to eight years. The roads here were in dilapidated condition. Due to which residents had to face much inconvenience. As vehicles used to get punctured, frequently auto rickshaw drivers used to leave the residents at a distance. In monsoon the condition used to become worse as the area used to transform into a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other vector-borne diseases. Another major problem faced by residents was that even though the area was very near to Belapur there was no direct link road. Instead, residents were compelled to go the long way.
A resident of Sector 27 and social worker Riyaz Shaikh says, “It is really a matter of great relief for us that NMMC has finally heard our complaints. Work of road development has been started and hence in future we believe that we will not turn victims of all diseases borne by filthiness. Our only request is that the work of internal roads which had been initiated earlier must be completed at the earliest”.
“NMMC has also developed the new link road from Sector 27 to IT Colony, Belapur. This is one of the best steps taken by the corporation as this will not only save our precious time but money too,” he says.
