Homage paid to Martyrs to mark Fire Service Day

Vashi: Navi Mumbai Fire and safety officials observed National Fire Service Day on Saturday. As part of this homage was paid to those fire fighters who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties. A weeklong fire and safety week is organised from 14 to 20 April by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Fire Department to mark this day. 
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Jaywant Sutar said, “The Navi Mumbai Fire and Safety department is doing great work in the city. However the residents must also stay alert individually and organizationally with respect to the fire safety measures. As part of the week long celebration Fire officials must spread awareness on fire safety by organising Mock Drill and awareness campaigns.”
The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Mayor Mandakini Mhatre, Commissioner Dr Ramaswamy N, Standing Committee Chairman Subhangi Patil, Leader of the House Ravindra Ithape, Water Distribution and Sewarage Committee Chairman Anjali Walunj, Social welfare Committee Chairman Anita Manvatkar, Corporators Avinash Lad, Additional Commissioner Ankush Chavhan, Fire Brigade Officers G T Patil, Bohrade, Koli, Ex Fire Officer RT Mhatre and Gharat.
