It’s been a long time since residents have been requesting authorities to ensure free flow of traffic near General Hospital and schools located in Sector 10, Vashi. Ideally, reaching hospital and schools should be easy for patients and students but that is not the case. Traffic chaos created in the area makes the hospital as well as the schools virtually inaccessible.
Social worker Inderjeet Singh informs “The lane in which the hospital is located has three educational institutes the nearest one being St. Mary’s. Sainath and Anjuman Islam are located a further ahead. The problem of traffic chaos reaches its peak during schools’ opening and closing hours when a sea of students converges on the road. School buses, cars and other vehicles of parents and guardian who come to pick up their wards clog up every bit of road space. With students all over the road, traffic moves at snail’s pace. Honking all around raises a lot of cacophony”.Singh adds “Six months back Deputy Police Commissioner of Traffic Department had assured that he would have a talk with the school administrations to solve the problem but not a single step has been taken by them. Similarly, school managements too have not given this serious problem a single thought”.
